Most everyone passionate about traveling agrees that an exciting development in the travel and tourism industry is the upcoming changes in the Saudi Arabia visa program.
The country will start to offer visa-free travel for South African citizens and those from a dozen other countries. After rising to power, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman introduced sweeping reforms across the country and tourism was one of the major industries favorably affected by this change.
The country tested a pilot visa program by hosting events such as the Formula E Motor Racing competition, Tantora winter cultural festival, and the King Abdul Aziz Camel Festival. Guests at these events could apply for simplified visas that allowed them to travel around the country for 14 days and the program was a huge success.
Likewise, the government of Saudi Arabia also wants to facilitate travel to neighboring countries such as the United Arab Emirates or Qatar. This visa will make the border crossing process faster and simpler, especially for tourists who are limited on time.
Although currently there isn’t much information about the Saudi Arabia visa, it is known that the government of the country is planning to roll out the new eVisa within the next two years. So if you are a South African citizen and want to be among the first few to travel to this exciting and undiscovered country, we strongly recommend applying for a visa as soon as the program begins.
