Most visitors to Saudi Arabia need a passport and a visa to enter. There are only 4 visa exempt countries: Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, and the UAE. Citizens of these countries can enter by using a national ID card instead of a passport.
At the moment, Saudi Arabia doesn’t issue tourist visas, they only issue Hajj visas for religious pilgrims. However, the government has plans to introduce an Online Visa for Saudi Arabia which will open the country up to tourism.
Saudi Arabia Passport requirements
Unless you’re from one of the four visa-exempt countries (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, and the UAE) you need to present a passport to enter Saudi Arabia. There needs to be at least one blank page in your passport for a stamp.
Since the breakdown of diplomatic ties in June 2017, citizens of Qatar have been refused entry into Saudi Arabia. Israeli citizens are also refused entry and passports containing an Israeli stamp may be rejected
Saudi Arabia requirements: Your passport must have at least 6 months validity from the date of entry into Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia Visa types
Saudi Arabia doesn’t currently issue tourist visas. The Saudi Arabia eVisa will soon be available for eligible citizens.
Hajj visas are for religious pilgrims who go to Saudi Arabia for the Hajj. Applications are accepted between the 15th day of Shawwal and the 25th day of Dhu’l-Qada (in accordance with the Hejirah calendar).
Hajj visas aren’t issued to anyone who’s completed the pilgrimage within the last 5 years. Female pilgrims must be accompanied by an immediate family member who’s 18 or over. Women over 45 don’t need to be accompanied.
eVisa for Saudi Arabia
Once introduced, the Saudi Arabia eVisa will mark a huge change for tourism in the country. Applicants will be able to complete the application form online with the need to go to an embassy or consulate.
After an application has been approved, the eVisa will be sent to the applicant by email. Travellers will be able to enter Saudi Arabia by presenting their eVisa and their passport.
